About smallART2025:
smallART2025 is a unique exhibition showcasing the creativity of local artists from the Arts Illiana’s six-county region and the Illinois counties of Clark and Edgar. This intimate collection celebrates the beauty and impact of small-scale art, with each piece measuring no larger than 12" X 12" framed and 12” X 12” X 12” for sculpture. Juror and Featured Artist: Christel Gutelius
Artist Bio
Christel is mainly a landscape painter, enjoying studio and plein air work. She has participated in many local and regional exhibitions and has received numerous awards. She has been juried into shows such as the Hoosier Salon’s 100th Exhibition held at the Indiana State Museum, the Swope Art Museum’s Midwest Exhibition in which she was awarded a Grand Prize and was also juried into the Minnetrista Art Museum in Muncie. She has had her art hung in the Indiana State House as a Hoosier Woman Artist, selected twice for this honor by the state. Christel is a member of the local Wabash Valley Art Guild, the Hoosier Salon and the American Impressionist Society.
Bringing awareness through her art to the beauty, history, and importance of the preservation of local treasures such as Deming Park, Prairie Creek Park, Atherton Island and Turkey Run has been a joyful venture. Nearby Turkey Run State Park has been an endless source of hiking and camping pleasure for her and her family and has inspired a good portion of her recent work. Going into natural environments, she feels, is an important part of health and wellness.
To show her support of those who care and work towards similar goals, Christel has chosen to donate part of the proceeds from her sales to the Friends of Turkey Run & Shades State Parks to help with their efforts to bring insightful events to the public and restore and improve the park.
As juror tor the “Small Art Show”, Christel is invited to show her work in the adjoining gallery space and has chosen to share this space with a few inspiring artists she has come across over the years. See more info about Christel and her art at christelgutelius.com.
Also, please join us on November’s First Friday, here at Arts Illiana, for a special presentation by the Interpretive Naturalist for Turkey Run State Park, Jenny Matthews.
