Brush and Mortar Art Exchange: Bringing Art into Indiana’s Local Businesses

BRUSH AND MORTAR ART EXCHANGE
Brush and Mortar Art Exchange is a new initiative by Arts Illiana in partnership with the West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC), designed to revitalize Indiana’s small business landscape by connecting talented local artists with brick-and-mortar stores. This program empowers artists with increased visibility and sales opportunities while helping businesses create inviting, unique spaces that attract and inspire customers. Together, we’re cultivating a thriving artistic ecosystem in Indiana, bringing vibrancy, culture, and economic growth to our communities.

How to Get Involved
For Artists:
Are you a local artist looking to reach a broader audience and boost your sales? Join Brush and Mortar to showcase your work in stores across Indiana. The program offers comprehensive support, including pricing workshops, marketing training, and more, thanks to the ISBDC. Currently, only 2D art is accepted, and each piece will be displayed in a secure and maintained space within the participating stores. Artists and store owners sign an agreement to ensure professionalism and clarity for all parties involved.
For Brick-and-Mortar Businesses:
Make your store a destination for art lovers and shoppers alike! By partnering with artists, you’ll add an aesthetic appeal that draws in new customers, enhances your space, and supports the local art community. Arts Illiana provides in-kind curation services to ensure a smooth and visually appealing integration of art into your space. Participating stores earn a 10% commission on any artwork sold unless otherwise specified. Partnerships last at least one quarter, with the option to extend if both parties agree.
Ready to join? Begin the onboarding process by completing our survey. Applicants will need to meet with an ISBDC business advisor, and upon approval, they’ll be granted access to our Facebook group—a central hub for partnership discussions and updates.
For questions, please contact Jon Robeson at Arts Illiana (812.235.5007) or the ISBDC at 812.237.7676.
