Arts Illiana is excited to invite Vigo County School Corporation students to participate in a special Fall/Halloween-themed student exhibition at The Gallery at Arts Illiana!
Our goal is to showcase artwork from elementary, middle, and high school students throughout Vigo County while providing each participating school an opportunity to be represented.
Artwork should be inspired by Fall and/or Halloween. Teachers and students are encouraged to interpret the theme creatively. Additional information regarding the theme will be provided with the exhibition details.
AUTUMN AFTERGLOW: BLACKLIGHT EXPERIENCE
Featuring Jennefer Weeks Massey, Jana Weeks, and Trevor Bridgewater
Step into a world that changes when the lights go down.
After The Harvest is a collaborative exhibition featuring the work of four artists and art educators: Jennefer Weeks Massey, Jana Weeks, Ricardo Hutchins, and Trevor Bridgewater. Each artist has created work that exists in two visual worlds. The art that stands on its own in ordinary light while revealing an unexpected, luminous dimension under black light.
The exhibition invites viewers to experience familiar materials, colors, forms, and imagery in an entirely different way. Fluorescent elements, reflective surfaces, unexpected details, and glowing pigments transform the gallery, creating moments of surprise and discovery. Rather than simply creating artwork that glows, the artists explore how light itself can become part of the artwork.
The exhibition is presented alongside a student art show, Full Harvest Moon, creating a playful connection between the artists and the students. The moon, night, and the mysterious qualities of darkness provide a natural bridge between the two exhibitions, with student artwork responding to the theme while incorporating elements that come alive under black light.
