About smallART 2024

Opening reception: November 15th, 2024 | 6:30 - 8:30 PM

Viewing days: November 15th, 2024 - January 10th, 2024.

smallART 2024 is a unique exhibition showcasing the creativity of local artists from the Arts Illiana's six-county region (Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo) and the Illinois counties of Clark and Edgar. This intimate collection celebrates the beauty and impact of small-scale art, with each piece measuring no larger than 12" X 12" framed and 12” X 12” X 12” for sculpture.

Running from November 15th, 2024, to January 10th, 2025, the exhibition not only highlights the creative spirit of our community but also emphasizes the importance of supporting artists by providing opportunities to sell their works. Come explore how size DOES matter in this special showcase of local talent.

JUROR/FEATURED ARTIST | Samuel Penaloza
Artist Bio: Samuel Penaloza was born in Los Angeles, California on June 1994. He spent most of his childhood in Nickerson Garden projects. He relocated to Indianapolis Indiana in 2006. At a very young age Samuel knew he wanted to be an artist. Now he’s a traditional painter with over a decade of experience. He does not only create unique art pieces but he also works on murals. His most recent mural was the Citizens Energy Group’s DigIndy art project in 2022. He created a large scale mural of “Tlaloc” the Aztec god of rain. Working on becoming an established artist, Samuel spends most of his days perfecting his craft. In the future he sees himself exhibiting more artwork throughout his city and the country.
